Melco Resorts & Entertainment is one of the world’s...Melco Resorts & Entertainment is one of the world’s largest integrated resort operators and an owner and developer of casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities around the world, with main properties in Asia. Melco’s brand values are quality, design, craft and technology and continually pushing to deliver better and more beautiful products. Woodwork was asked to create aspirational visuals to help support and drive the keynote speeches for CEO Lawrence Ho. The total of five animations were displayed during important press events announcing the company’s next steps. The animations all have a custom style and approach, corresponding with the different topics of the speeches. Pairing strategic and visionary speeches with abstract graphic visualisations, and new project reveals with realistic textural architecture renderings. The challenge in these projects was creating an engaging visual story that compliments and emphasises the speeches using strictly abstract visuals.
For their Fall / Winter 2012 global campaign, Adidas...For their Fall / Winter 2012 global campaign, Adidas calls on heavyweights such as Nicki Minaj and Jeremy Scott. On the interactive side, fans from around the world are challenged to "Represent Their Crew" by uploading content showing what makes them the most original crew in the world. To bridge the global spot and the interactive campaign, and to call all crews to action, an introduction film was needed that would tell the story and excite crews to participate. Sid Lee Amsterdam asked Woodwork to integrate animations into the existing campaign footage. After creating our edit we took a hands-on approach by drawing the graphics on frame by frame. This was accompanied by some cell shaded, tracked 3D elements that reflect the visual language of the interactive platform.

Twelve precisely arranged compositions that become one seamless image. Creating portraits consisting of a diverse array of visuals, both still and moving, like a Hipster face, squid tentacles, a cup of coffee, a bowl of salad and much more. These items were used as part of a bigger campaign for Facebook Germany. Gifs seem pretty hot right now and this turned out to be a nice warm up for the gifs to come. The internet needs it.

One of Netherland’s major tv channels asked our friend at...One of Netherland’s major tv channels asked our friend at Dog and Pony to develop a new strategy and creative concept, so we teamed up to take on this project and we are as proud as peacocks with the ultimate result. ‘Nederland 3’ is an innovative channel that tries to heighten the interconnectedness between Dutch citizens. They try to achieve this by broadcasting programs that are, besides being informative, inspirational and offering entertainment; innovative. The programs show for what they are and reveal how it could be. It focuses on true stories featuring real people. Their voice is without prejudice in unconventional and surprising ways. Goal is to encourage viewers to change the way they look at the world. The more you see, the better you will understand it. Hence, the new slogan of Nederland 3: ‘Anders kijken, meer zien’ which translates into English: ‘take a different view, see more’. Our challenge was to find a way to refresh the channel, keeping the heritage of the channel in mind. It has a lot to offer and we wanted to give them the opportunity to literally show more in different ways. Our solution was a dynamic grid based on the logo’s shape. Where views from different angles and perspectives can be visualized in a dynamic lens framework. The restyling matches Nederland 3 in a way that it both pushes boundaries, not afraid of experimenting; it zooms, delays and shifts focus. The grid also determines the promo package that we developed for the channel. It is a modular system that can incorporate any piece of content, which means that every second of an evening’s programming can be displayed from start to finish. The grid brings to life what’s at the heart of Nederland 3: the more people see of the world, the better they will understand it. Overall it’s about engaging different perspectives, innovative programming and captivating viewers; all in one place. We teamed up with Artbox on this piece for creative...We teamed up with Artbox on this piece for creative agency Gunfight. Gunfight is an in-house new style agency based in London. They offer their clients a project-only creative service and are a partner of Award winning UK production company GreatGuns. We were responsible for the direction en production of this introductory and were inspired to give the animation the look and feel of a graphic novel. Therefore, we searched for creative ways of putting it in a Western setting using all clichés such as vast, empty lands, an old dusted town with a saloon and the always-present swinging doors. With each turn of a next frame, we wanted to visualize iconic elements on one hand and explaining the story of Gunfight in another. To create the best effect throughout the film we combined 2D and 3D animation and we really tried to grasp the painted 2D feel by projection mapping. We relished the opportunity to animate this project and if that wasn’t enough, our creative director took care of the sounddesign and music. We really enjoyed creating and animating this Wild Western shootout! We were filled with enthusiasm when Adidas asked to...We were filled with enthusiasm when Adidas asked to create a commercial for their new product Climaheat. Even more exciting is that the video was set to appear all over the world from England, Russia to China and Korea. Furthermore, we got the opportunity to combine the two disciplines we love most: live action and motion graphics. We worked together with the creative team of Adidas to produce a commercial that would introduce the Climaheat’s jacket and sweater for an online global campaign, featuring Climaheat as the best in class winter performance product. We wanted to find a balance between explaining the actual technological benefit of the products but at the same time giving it an inspirational story. The first direction we performed by traveling through the actual materials and explaining its function in the form of a tech render such as the ‘Heat Seals.’ We chose to give the set a nighttime urban feel, alternated with a mountain look. The runner in the story takes place in an urban setting who is running along old brick walls that are top lit. The dark high key lighting from surrounding lampposts makes the look complete. The hiker is set in a snowy mountain with a short line of sight. We see him walking through high snow and wind hits his jacket. The location for shooting the material was in the Bruynzeel barracks where we build up a city and simulated a snowstorm. This project was our kind of live action meets animation!
