Industrial Color recently worked with director, Gordon...Industrial Color recently worked with director, Gordon von Steiner, in editing the campaign video for Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2014 collection. The Oasis collection is modeled by Daria Werbowy. Our collaboration with the designer comes at an exciting time for DVF. This year, Diane von Furstenberg is celebrating the 40th anniversary of her wrap dress- a fashion phenomenon that she first brought to the closets of women everywhere in 1974. This timeless design is also currently being celebrated at LACMA, with an exhibit entitled, “Journey of a Dress”. In addition, Von Furstenberg’s designs were prominently featured on Amy Adam’s character in the award-winning film, “American Hustle”. Certainly an exhilarating time for the designer, and we’re pleased to be a part of it.

Legs Media recently approached Industrial Color...Legs Media recently approached Industrial Color Productions to shoot a fashion show for Director Georgie Greville that presented a unique technical challenge - they wanted to shoot entirely on iPhones. And not just one, but 20 of them! Our in-house Director of Photography, Santiago Gonzalez, imagined making the shoot even more dynamic by creating a bullet-time effect. He achieved this by building a plexi and hardware rig to mount the iPhones in a 180 degree curve. The monster iPhone rig held seven iPhones at the end of the runway and were triggered at the beginning of the show, then edited together using the models as a registration point for each camera on the rig. Three more iPhones were set at a single angle with different lenses on each (Superwide, wide, and Telephoto) to create a visual tryptych. In the cut our editor jumped between each angle to keep the edit dynamic. In order to make the video bigger than just a runway show, the creative team also set up a small shooting area behind the scenes to capture each model's look. The end result is a futuristic high fashion video that effectively represents EDUN's aesthetic. It's not the RED, but we think the iPhone totally performed.

Directors, Poppy Gordon and Nathan Avila, of Feral...Directors, Poppy Gordon and Nathan Avila, of Feral Productions, approached Industrial Color to shoot their upcoming look book film for Nike’s skateboarding apparel division, Nike SB. They challenged our Director of Photography, Santiago Gonzalez, to capture a 360 degree view of pro skaters mid-trick to show off the clothing. The Industrial Color team designed a custom 180-degree rig made up of speed rail and two dozen GoPro Hero3+’s. Two build days later, they perfected the exact angles and wireless triggering set up and were ready to shoot with all 24 cameras. To keep the look of the film minimal and clean, the goal was to capture the movement of each skater as they did their ‘tre’ flips on a white background. A 100-foot wide cyc was required to give space for the skaters to build up speed for their tricks and to properly execute the GoPro rig. The 360-degree view from each skater was achieved by having them repeat their trick from each side of the frame and then stitching both runs together. A second RED Epic running on 60 feet of dolly track caught the action through the entire trick. The end result is a dynamic look at Nike SB apparel in action.

Directed by Santiago and Mauricio: santiagoandmauricio...Directed by Santiago and Mauricio: santiagoandmauricio.com/ Filmed at Fast Ashleys Studios: fastashleysstudios.com From Nowness.com: Pop photography and filmmaking siblings Santiago and Mauricio Sierra take us on a high-octane night ride starring a vamped-up Alana Zimmer in their latest short, She’s Electric. Looking back on growing up in the 80s, the brothers drew inspiration from Japanese anime, Atari video games and Disneyland’s Space Mountain attraction to create the retro imagery. “We remembered watching ET and Back to the Future, and when our dad got the first Mac,” says Santiago. “It was an interesting time where new technology was shaping the vision of the future.” Previously creating color-bursting fashion shoots and sparkling campaigns for the likes of Interview magazine and Dior, Santiago and Mauricio cast otherworldly Canadian model Zimmer as their “perfect future 80s character” to sport the head-turning spring/summer beauty looks from makeup artist Romy Soleimani. “What we do isn’t film, it’s images in motion. It’s the new photography,” explains Santiago of their post-production-heavy technique. Adds Mauricio: “People can recreate entire universes out of nothing, and that’s one of the things we love to play with.”
